Dear Families,
Welcome to Ellwood School, it is a truly amazing place to learn and grow.
Even throughout the challenges of COVID-19, the Ellwood community has remained strong and supportive of each other. I am very proud of the work our students, staff and parents have put in to make the best of the situation and keep our learning going at a very high rate.
Here is a little bit about me. This is my 26th year in education. After teaching fourth and fifth grades in both suburban Chicago and Goleta, I served as the Coordinator of Instructional Media and Technology for the Goleta Union School District before taking over as the Mountain View Elemntary School Principal in 2009. In 2017, I moved to Ellwood School. While I loved working at Mountain View School, I was also excited for the move since I taught at Ellwood in 2003-2004 and loved the school and the community. I have a bachelor's degreee in economics and history from Saint Olaf College and a master's degree in education from the University of St. Thomas, both in Minnesota. My wife, Alexandra, and I have two sons who attended school in Goleta Union School District, so I have an appreciation of the Goleta schools as both an educator and a parent.
I am excited for this school year. If you have any questions about Ellwood please reach out to me at nschoenwetter@goleta.k12.ca.us.
Sincerely,
Ned Schoenwetter
