Special Education

Hello! This is my 3rd year working as a Special Education Teacher at Kellogg and I have truly loved every moment! I have worked in the Middle Intensive Classroom the past two years at Kellogg and this year I am delighted to be the new Mild/Moderate Support Needs (MMSN) TK-4th Special Education Teacher. A little bit about me: I received my B.A. in Communicative Disorders from California State University Northridge and worked as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant at an elementary school in Moorpark. In the speech room, I found my passion for working with children with disabilities and ultimately realized that becoming a Special Education Teacher was my true calling. I went on to receive a MMSN credential as well as an ESN credential allowing me to work in all special education settings. In my free time, I love spending time with my boyfriend and dog. I also love outdoor activities such as snowboarding, hiking, skateboarding, and surfing.

I am from Rhode Island where I received my Special Education and General Education degrees from Rhode Island College. I was tired with the cold weather and moved west. I’ve been teaching since 2008 in the Santa Barbara area. I started out in private schools assisting students with special needs. I moved to Las Vegas and taught in a Kindergarten Resource Classroom. I then moved back to Goleta in 2013 and have been here ever since. I have taught at Kellogg in various roles such as Intensive (K-2) teacher, Resource, Inclusion Specialist, and now the Mild Moderate of Support Needs (MMSN) teacher working with students with different abilities.

I have four children. Twins who are eleven and are in the 6th grade,  a nine year old in the 4th grade, and a five year old who just started Kindergarten here at Kellogg. My husband is on the administrative team for the local Volleyball Club. When I am not teaching you can find me on a soccer field, skating rink, or softball field. I also love peace and quiet when my kids go to bed.
